To effectively control and eradicate weeds from your lawn, it is important to understand that different types of weeds grow at different times of the year – namely in spring, summer, and fall/winter. Spraying your lawn once or twice a year is unlikely to produce the desired results. Instead, by choosing a lawn service spraying weed control herbicides five times a year, most lawns can maintain a great look or significantly improve their appearance by controlling and eradicating weeds throughout the season. For customers with a very low tolerance for weeds, a premium service of seven monthly treatments is available. 

At our Veteran Lawn Services, we apply our weed control herbicides at a specific rate of ounces per gallon per square foot. We determine the total square footage of your lawn and then use calibrated equipment to ensure that we are applying the correct amount of product. It's important to note that our direct spray applications must come in contact with the above ground plant tissue (leaves) to be effective. This is an active control solution and not a preventative measure. 

The biggest factors affecting the timing of this lawn service are rain, winds over 10 mph, and temperatures exceeding 90°F. Although our weed control products are absorbed and dry quickly, they require at least one hour before steady rain to be effective. Air temperature is also considered because extreme heat can cause volatilization. Wind speed can cause spray drift and is therefore taken into account. While premium weed control herbicides are effective in killing weeds, they can also harm other ornamental plants such as flowers and bushes. If you want us to spray the weeds in your flower beds, please explicitly request it. We are careful in spraying only the weeds in these areas, but there is always a risk of drift and unintended targets. We will do our best, but we need your permission to proceed with the task, and we want you to be aware of the potential risks involved. 

By law any herbicide applied to your lawn (fertilizer with an additive, weed control treatments) must have the treated area marked with flags. These can be removed after 24 hours and discarded, if you would like you can keep them and return them to us to use the next time. No need to be home to know we have come by to do your application. We send an email upon completion of our service report to let you know when we came by, what was applied and after treatment care instructions for you. 

All of our weed control herbicides are professional grade products approved for use on residential lawns. We are licensed in Council Bluffs through the state of Iowa handle and apply chemicals for your lawn. We mark all lawns with a helpful flag to keep people safe.
